Hi everyone,
I recently bought a Beelink Me Pro (N150, 1TB SSD), and I’m considering replacing the preinstalled Windows setup with TrueNAS to turn it into a small home NAS/server.
I’d appreciate some practical guidance before I start, especially from anyone who has installed TrueNAS on similar mini PCs. Here are my main questions:
- Is installing TrueNAS on the internal 1TB SSD a sensible choice, or would that be a poor use of the drive?
- Should I instead use a separate smaller SSD or USB device for the OS and keep the 1TB drive for storage?
- Before wiping Windows, is it recommended to create a recovery USB, export drivers, or make a full disk image in case I want to restore the original system later?
- Are there any known setup issues with mini PCs like this, such as BIOS settings, boot mode, network adapter support, or thermal/power considerations?
I’d also welcome any advice on best practices for first-time setup, disk layout, backups, and anything else I should think about before removing Windows.
