Hello,
Thank you for the instructions.
I am reluctant to follow your instructions given my experience so far. My goal is to resolve the missing dual-monitor support without risking the only stable Windows instance I currently have. The current Windows installation is usable, but it does not properly support my second monitor. Because previous graphics-driver attempts have resulted in Windows recovery/repair failures, I was not comfortable running another full graphics-driver installation directly on the working SSD, where I have re-established essential applications.
Instead, I attempted a safer approach using a separate blank 500 GB SSD.
Here is what I did:
- I removed/protected my working Windows installation and installed a separate 500 GB SSD with no operating system. The intent is to determine if installing the whql-amd-software-adrenalin-edition-26.5.2-win11-a works or not.
- I booted from a Windows 11 USB installer and performed a fresh Windows 11 installation.
- Windows 11 initially installed cleanly.
- Windows Update downloaded and installed updates.
- After the updates, Device Manager showed the display adapter as:
AMD Radeon ™ Graphics
- However, Windows still did not detect my second monitor, an HP Pavilion 24xw display. I was able to use an Acer monitor, but the HP Pavilion 24xw was not detected.
- I then rebooted the PC.
- After the reboot, the system again entered the Windows recovery screen with the message:
“Your device ran into a problem and couldn’t be repaired.”
- I then attempted another completely fresh Windows 11 installation from the USB drive onto the same separate SSD.
- Near the end of that installation process, the PC powered off unexpectedly.
Because of these repeated failures during clean Windows installation testing, I consider the separate-SSD diagnostic experiment unsuccessful. More importantly, it makes me unwilling to run additional full graphics-driver procedures on my only stable Windows installation.
To be clear, I am not refusing to follow your advice. I attempted to follow a safer version of the procedure on a separate SSD so that I would not corrupt my working Windows instance. The result was that even a clean Windows installation became unstable after rebooting.
At this point, I need a safer and more specific driver-installation method.
Please provide one of the following:
- The exact OEM graphics driver folder/file that should be installed manually through Device Manager or pnputil, without running the full AMD Adrenalin installer.
- The exact INF file in your driver package that supports this AMD graphics hardware ID:
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_1681
- If needed, I can provide the full hardware ID including the SUBSYS value from Device Manager.
- Confirmation whether the repeated recovery failures and unexpected shutdown during Windows installation indicate a possible hardware, BIOS, or firmware defect with the unit.
I am specifically trying to avoid another unrecoverable Windows boot failure. Please provide a direct manual graphics-driver installation method, or advise whether the unit should be repaired or replaced.
Thank you.
