SER8 Reset - now no audio

Last Friday Windows dumped a poison update on my comp. Took me the weekend to recover my files, but left the computer looping through automatic repair.

I got there trying to do a Windows Reset, which certainly didn’t work. So I created a Win11 installation USB and went through that experience (yikes!).

Now everything is working smoothly again, except I have no audio. Device Manager says everything is installed and under the Windows the sounds settings page I can see the meter bobbing in time to the music. However, no noise.

I plugged my speakers into my laptop and the speakers work fine.

Does this mean the audio jack that worked before is now broken? That doesn’t seem probable due to software issues, so I assue I am missing some key point.

Can anyone Help?

Well, it appears that the problem might be with custom AMD drivers.

AMD chipset drivers. My first attempt to reset resulted in an installation where a handful of devices in Device Manager had no driver installed. I downloaded the AMD chipset drivers from the AMD website instead of drivers from Beelink (where exactly are those files available for download?).

The culprit? -> AMD Chipset Drivers update - Version 8.05.04.516

Please uninstall the graphic driver and audio driver in the device manager and install the new one.

Well that driver installed fine, but still no sound to the speakers.

Also, there is a new component installation that has not resolved in the Device Manager.

It’s called a Multimedia Controller. If that is part of the AMD package, the driver is not installing.

Any ideas?

Regarding the driver error of “Mutimedia Controller”, it is recommended that you try updating the audio driver.

I have resolved all issues in the Device Manager now. However, I still cannot get sound to my speakers via the backside jack.

I am at a loss to understand how or why this happened. Can a bad driver break the sound output?

I think my NVMe took a hit too. My last two cold boots started with the boot hanging on a black screen, requiring a hard reset and a successful boot. I have no way to determine what that issue is.

Odd behaviour all around but the computer shows no other issues at the moment.

I am now shopping for new speakers that connect via USB or Bluetooth.

You can try to clear CMOS : Please turn off the PC , unplug the power supply and HDMI cable , and press the CMOS pinhole for about 10 seconds. Ten minutes later, plug the power supply and HDMI cable, turn on the PC again.
Please wait about one or two minute, if you can go to the system.
Please repeatedly press delete key as soon as your restart the PC, go to BIOS. Go to Boot option, enable fast boot, press F4 to save.
