EX Mate Pro --- Ethernet not working

RTL8156BG ethernet not enumerating on USB bus while all other internal devices (audio, four hubs) work normally. This is with a MacBook Pro M5 latest OS release.

nikwest This might be a compatibility issue with the M5 computer. Do you have other computers?

Please connect your EX Mate Pro to another computer to see if the 2.5G network card is recognized. I will wait for your update.

Indeed on my old MacBook Pro M1 the ethernet adapter is shown. So is this a Thunderbolt 4 vs 5 incompatibility?

mh, now after I connected the EX Mate Pro to the older Macbook it also works on the MacBook Pro M5. Even disconnected everything, powered off and plugged in again and it shows. Not sure why it didn’t work before.

nikwest Glad to hear the Ethernet port of your EX Mate Pro is now detected normally on your MacBook Pro M5 after re-plugging!

This issue was likely caused by a temporary Thunderbolt connection handshake failure between the dock and your M5 Mac, rather than a permanent incompatibility between Thunderbolt 4 and Thunderbolt 5. Re-power cycling and re-establishing the connection cleared up the abnormal recognition state.
