SER5 not powering up

Hi,

I have a SER5 (S/N: A55603BF40294) since a 2+ years ago. Yesterday out of a sudden the PC (which was working until then) had no video output.

After powering it back on, there’s no video signal.

Things I have tested:

two different HDMI cables and a DP cable, on two different screens.
clearing CMOS, waiting for an hour then powering it back on
testing each RAM module separately
plugging a USB keyboard: they keyboard doesn’t turn on. This is concerning!

One thing I’ve observed: Power on button doesn’t seem to work. If I want to power off the PC after each test, I have to unplug it. And when I plug it back on the PC powers on without pressing the power button either. It feels as if the power button was constantly pressed, not allowing the PC to power on?

New data:

after a day of inactivity (PC plugged off) I tested it again moments ago (only power, HDMI and keyboard) and the PC powered on normally. The moment I plugged the ethernet cable, video went out.

I tested that ethernet cable in a different PC and it wasn’t working correctly. So I’m getting a new ethernet cable.

In the meanwhile, the PC isn’t powering on so I’ll clear CMOS and wait for a day.

Sorry for the trouble.

Could you please send us a picture of SN code(two lines) at the bottom of machine ?

May I ask if you unplugged the power cord and HDMI cable when trying to clear CMOS?

Here are some potential solutions:

①Please change another power supply.

②Please check if the fan spins?

③Please tell us if the Keyboard light is on ?

Also, I unplugged everything when I cleared CMOS.

I’m not able to try with a different power supply at the moment, will let you know if I can borrow one.

When the computer fails to boot, fans are spinning but USB keyboard doesn’t light up.

I’m a bit busy but I’ll try to test the PC again later today, will come back with the result.

Hey hello!

PC keeps failing to boot. When powered on fans start spinning, power button light is on, but there’s no video output. If I plug a USB keyboard, it lights up briefly the it goes off.

In a few occassions I’ve been able to power it on (after clearing CMOS and waiting for a few days) but it ended up losing video output.

I’m still waiting for another boot up success, see if I can add more info to the issue after checking system logs.

Is there anything else I could try, besides trying a dfifferent PSU?

Based on the SN picture you provided earlier, it seems that your machine is still within the warranty period.

can confirm that all the methods provided by you made no difference: clearing CMOS while unplugged does nothing. and when plugging it, fans start spinning, power button LED lights up, and if I plug a USB keyboard it doesn’t light up. as I said, I haven’t been able to test with a different PSU (nothing suitable at hand to try)

the only way to boot it up seems to be to leave it alone and unplugged for some days. if enough time passes it seems to act normally again: it does nothing when plugging the PSU. i can press power up button, it boots up normally and all seems fine.

I tried his morning, afer a few days of inactivity, and I was able to boot it up normally. I checked system/kernel logs but failed to see anything relevant. after some time testing I had to leave, so I left it running. a couple hours later it was again powered on, but without any activity: no video output, no network activity, unable to log remotely….

I want to wait some more days and give it yet another try, keep digging into system logs, etc. But all points to some hardware being broken

I’ll contact afer-sales as you suggest, anyway.
