Hello,
I own a Beelink GTR9 Pro with an AMD Ryzen AI MAX+ 395 processor and integrated AMD Radeon 8060S graphics. I am running Linux (kernel 7.2.3, Arch/Omarchy distribution) and I have found that the GPU is not initializing correctly.
Device information
- Model: Beelink GTR9 Pro
- CPU/APU: AMD Ryzen AI MAX+ 395
- GPU: AMD Radeon 8060S (40 CUs)
- Current system BIOS: GTRPR07
- Current VBIOS: 113-STRXLGEN-001, build 00107962, version 023.011.000.039.000001, date 2024/06/17
- GPU PCI ID: 1002:1586 (correct for Strix Halo)
Problem
Although the hardware is identified as Radeon 8060S / Strix Halo, the kernel amdgpu driver loads the wrong graphics IP block:
detected ip block number 6 <gfx_v11_0_0> (gfx_v11_0)
As a result, ROCm reports the GPU target as:
Name: gfx1103
For a Strix Halo Radeon 8060S it should be:
Name: gfx1151
IP block: gfx_v11_5_1
Impact
- ROCm/HIP cannot compile optimized kernels for gfx1151.
- Inference performance with llama.cpp/rocmfp4-llama is far below expectations (3–5 t/s vs. >10 t/s using Vulkan).
- The RDNA 3.5 optimizations of the Radeon 8060S cannot be used.
Request
Is there a BIOS update (or a VBIOS update inside the system BIOS) for the GTR9 Pro that fixes the GPU identification so it is exposed as gfx1151 instead of gfx1103?
The current BIOS GTRPR07 appears to contain an early engineering VBIOS (dated 2024/06/17) that reports the wrong graphics IP block to the Linux kernel.
I would appreciate a safe download link for the correct BIOS/VBIOS for my exact board revision.
Thank you.
Best regards,
AleV
