I just bought my GTi12 with 12900HK cpu a few days ago (BIOS 201 pre-installed) and my front USB A port (USB 3.2 Gen 2) is not working. I tried connecting various USB3 external SSDs as well as my phone to it but either they are not detectable at all, or GTi12 becomes very slow trying to read them and then says “Drive is not accessible.” That same SSD and my phone work fine when they are attached to other USB ports of this GTi12 or to my older computer. So it’s not the devices or the cables as I used both usb 2 and 3 cables. Both work when plugged through the back USB port, but none through the front usb port. However, the front usb port does supply power to my devices and usb port is there in device manager.
I tried some basic tricks like uninstalling the root hub driver which Windows reinstalls upon reboot as well as install latest Windows Updates, but the front usb port is still not functional.

Anyone?

Please uncheck the save energy in the device manager—universal serial bus controller–USB hub—properties–power management—uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off the device to save power”

Yep, I’ve done that for all eXtensible Host Controllers and USB hubs. Nothing changed. Even mouse and keyboard don’t work when plugged in to that front port.

Please turn off the PC , unplug the power supply and other USB devices, then put the pin in the CMOS pinhole and press it for about 10 seconds , restart the PC after ten minutes.

By the way, did you ever change the windows operating system ?

Nope, I never changed operating system. Same Windows 11 Pro, only installed Windows updates for it. I will try cmos battery thing now.

Nope. Took me abit of time to figure out that cmos battery switch was actually inside the headphone jack on the back but upon boot still some weird behavior. Initially my mouse was working through the front port, then i plugged in my phone to the front port and windows displayed a message saying "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed) so I let Windows fix the problem but then I got another error message “Unknown USB Device (Port Reset Failed)”. External ssd also show same “drive innacessible” only when connected using that front port. All devices work fine on other ports.

Here are the possible solutions :

① Restart the Computer: A simple restart can sometimes resolve driver and software glitches. When you restart, Windows will reload the USB controller drivers and may be able to re - establish a proper connection with the devices.
    Update USB Controller Drivers:
Press the Windows key + X and select “Device Manager”.
Expand the “Universal Serial Bus controllers” category.
Right - click on each USB root hub and select “Update driver”.
Choose the option to search automatically for updated driver software.
Uninstall and Re - install USB Controllers:
In the Device Manager, right - click on the USB root hubs and select “Uninstall device”. Make sure to check the box that says “Delete the driver software for this device” (if available).
Restart your computer. Windows will automatically reinstall the USB controller drivers.

②Inspect and Clean the USB Port:
Turn off your computer and unplug it from the power source.
Use a can of compressed air to blow out any debris from the front USB port.

I’ve already done all that multiple times except for cleaning with compressed air as I don’t have that.
Can you tell me what all these options for USB in bios mean? There are lots under “Chipset” many which seem to change the behaviour of usb ports, but I couldn’t find any specific info on what each setting does as every PC has different bios settings with different functionality, like:
USB2 PHY Sus Well Power Gating
    USB PD0 Programming
    USB Overcurrent
    Enable HSII on xHCI
    USB3.1 Portx Speed Selection
TCSS xDCI Support and xHCI support etc

My previous computer never had any of these options in bios and most settings don’t give any descriptions on what they do.
