I bought my SER5 MAX Mini PC (with AMD Ryzen 7 6800U) back on June 20th, 2024 from Amazon. It worked pretty much as I expected it to for just over a year.
On the morning of Monday July 14, 2025, I turned it on. It was working fine. I left it on while I did some work on a laptop for the next 9-10 hours. When I went back to my SER5 MAX Mini PC, the display had changed from 1920×1080 to 640×480. I immediately rebooted it but that didn’t solve the problem. I checked the HDMI cable connection on the Mini PC and the monitor. They were fine. I checked the display settings in Windows 11 and it was showing 640×480 but it was grayed out… I could not change the resolution. I then noticed that an update to Windows 11 was in the middle of being installed. I decided to let that process finish.
I watched as four updates installed. One appeared to be a pretty sizable update. I wondered if that might be the cause.
Once the updates had completed, I went back to display settings. It was still set at 640×480 and the option to change the resolution was still grayed out. I thought maybe the Windows update may have corrupted the video drivers. I tried to update those through the Device Manager and it appeared I had the most recent. I then went to the AMD site and downloaded their driver checker (I don’t remember what they call it) and that software also claimed that I had the most recent drivers.
Somewhere around this time, I noticed that Windows 11 was claiming that I no longer had an audio device installed.
I don’t usually like to do this but I decided to try a Windows System Restore to revert back where my Mini PC was just before the updates were applied. Once that process completed, the display was still set at 640×480 and I still had no audio device installed.
During the several reboots that I was watching, there were a few times where the screen would remain black. The lights were on but there was no video display. This probably happened at least 3 or 4 times. If I pressed and held the power button down, it would turn off. When I powered it back up again, I would get the display again…at 640×480.
It finally reached a point where it will not output a video signal at all. I do see the power light, the fans are working, and the lights on the Ethernet jack on the back are still flickering. There is just no video display at all… not even during the initial boot process where you usually see the Beelink name for a couple of seconds.
I have tried the CMOS battery reset four times. Three times I waited for at least 10 minutes before I turned it on. I opened it up, re-seated the NVMe drive and the two RAM modules. That didn’t fix it either.
I still do no have any video output, not even during the initial boot sequence.
Is there anything else I should be trying or is this a lost cause?
