Hello, I am using a Beelink GTR9 Pro AI Max+ 395 and have run into some USB issues that seem to be caused by the system firmware. Problem description: During boot, Linux reports repeated errors on usb 3-5 such as: usb 3-5: device descriptor read/64, error -110 usb 3-5: device not accepting address X, error -62 usb usb3-port5: unable to enumerate USB device This delays the initialization of my keyboard and mouse. Sometimes, the system becomes unstable and freezes, which I suspect is related to these USB controller issues. In the BIOS, the system reports 3 keyboards, 2 mice, and 2 docks connected, even though I only have one keyboard and one mouse attached (and a dock with a headset). I also tested with only keyboard + mouse connected; the issue persists. I disabled XHCI handover in BIOS; the issue persists. There is no option in BIOS to disable the individual phantom port (usb 3-5). My request: Could you please investigate if this is a firmware/ACPI bug that makes the controller report phantom USB devices? If so, could you provide a BIOS/firmware update to correct this behavior, or advise on a workaround?

I don’t use Ubuntu and I would like to keep my OS if possible. I run NixOS on Linux Kernel 6.16.8.

ipkakr Please check your private message of the latest BIOS. After we test, ubuntu 25.04 doesn’t have these issue.

Same issue here, with the error messages, using Arch 6.16.8, with BIOS GTRP 108. It just takes a while to boot, but it works. No freezes so far. My first guess its these error messages are related to Bluetooth, but that’s a shot in the dark…

Ok, just had it completely powered off, then on, and the error was gone….

Yes, for me, the error “usb 3-5: device descriptor” is gone after full power-off (unplug completely). So far, everything runs, I did not run my machine for a long time, and OP reported about freezes, but I have not observed this.

Just had my first freeze: amdgpu 0000:c6:00.0: [drm] ERROR [CRTC:86:crtc-0] flip_done timed out - seems to be an AMD issue.

@tbocek I had the same usb issues, I suspect these have to do with either ethernet / mediatek BT controller. These malfuncation and only get back up after a full unplug from power

Good point! I experience the same performance issue. Specifically, the KDE Plasma desktop load seems to lag significantly and the network connection lags as well to get started/established. Something is wrong with it for sure.

userix My machine now boots fast as well, still hitting the GDM 10sec delay (https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gdm/-/issues/974), but this is not related to beelink, but a bug in GDM. I now also disabled the NIC, and I’ll check how reliable my machine now works.

Update: no crash so far, but hitting: amdgpu 0000:c4:00.0: [drm] ERROR [CRTC:90:crtc-1] flip_done timed out again.

tbocek Have you tried the above workaround that I’m using (or equivalent solution for other window managers)? Or are you still using that amdgpu.dcdebugmask=0×10 kernel parameter? That’s known to not resolve for many.

If you still run into this “usb 3-5” issue, try adding “usbcore.autosuspend=-1” to the kernel cmdline as a workaround. I believe this is a bug in the btmtk driver, and I am working on fixing it.

Rong Oddly, I don’t think anyone got the same issue to return again, after sorting it with the above described process. I haven’t for sure. 🤷

jotapesse In my experience, the issue usually occurs when:

The PC has been powered on for days
The radio environment is very noisy
A paired device connects to and disconnects from the PC from time to time (e.g., a mobile phone carried with you)
The above-mentioned device communicates with the PC from time to time when it’s connected (e.g., KDE Connect)

I actually have the same issue on both my laptop and GTR9 Pro. What they have in common is:

MT7925
Zen 5 (Strix Point vs Strix Halo)
The btusb interface is connected to usb3-5 (i.e., the 5th port on the 3rd bus)

I guess they are both derived from AMD’s reference design, making them very fragile while facing the btmtk autosuspend bug.

Rong You’re probably right. To be fair I haven’t used my Mediatek MT7925 Wi-Fi/Bluetooth card that much recently so that probably helped. I’ll push some more use out of it to see if it returns. Anyway, good to know that you’re working to fix it. 🙏Thanks!
