Hello, I want to install ComfyUI for AI/graphics purposes. I would like to use Ubuntu 24.04 LTS for compatibility with ROCm 7.0.2 (required for the AMD GPU). However, the network card is an Intel Ethernet Controller E610, and it is not detected under Ubuntu 24.04 in my case. According to my research, the E610 requires Ubuntu 24.10 (‘Oracular Oriole’) with kernel 6.11+ and driver ice 1.14. The problem is that ROCm 7.0.2 does not support Ubuntu 24.10, which creates a version conflict. So I am faced with this dilemma: Stay on Ubuntu 24.04 for ROCm + AMD GPU ✅ But risk that the Intel E610 network card will not work without a hacked driver or non-standard kernel ⚠️ Switch to Ubuntu 24.10 for the network card ✅ But lose official compatibility for ROCm 7.0.2 ❌ My questions for you: Has anyone here ever installed ComfyUI or a ROCm + AMD GPU + Intel E610 network card stack on Ubuntu 24.04 (or 24.10)? If so, which kernel version did you use? Did the Intel E610 driver work out-of-the-box or did you have to compile a module? Did you encounter any problems installing Ubuntu 24.04 with ROCm on this AMD Max+ 395 + Radeon 8060S platform? If I am mistaken, please correct me. Thank you in advance for your feedback and advice! Intel E610 not detected with Ubuntu 22.04

The Intel E610-XT2 NIC on the GTR9 Pro is a very recent hardware platform (released Apr 2025). To be supported by the built-in kernel module driver (ixgbe) a more recent kernel version is required. Alternatively, you may want to manually build and install the latest out-of-tree Intel ixgbe driver yourself and keep the older default kernel running with it.

Anyway those hard compatibility version requirements for ComfyUI + Kernel + ROCm don’t make much sense to me, you should be able to run them on latest versions. But I have not tried it so I can’t really say.

Beelink CS-George To be correct this should not be addressed as a “BIOS” Update. It’s actually the Intel E610-XT2 Firmware (NVM) Update 1.31 previously mentioned here and here.

Hello,
Fedora 43 Server: For some reason the Ethernet on my GTR9 Pro stopped working today; previously the speed was at 100Mbps due to the driver support. As part of troubleshooting I checked for a new UEFI version and saw the firmware update. The firmware update is failing due to “Device not found.” errors after running flash file from the EFI Shell.

The other month I successfully updated the UEFI from the stock version to P108 without issue so I’m fairly certain it’s not user error. Anyone able to update the E610 firmware? I updated to the latest Linux 6.18rc kernel hoping the Ethernet ports would be picked up but no dice. Ethernet doesn’t work at the moment for my home server. :/

I believe that Fedora 43 comes with Linux kernel 6.17.x so it shouldn’t have any issues fully supporting the Intel E610-XT2 Ethernet NIC as long as the default ixgbe in-tree kernel module is enabled/loaded for it. I’m on NixOS Linux and I’ve been using it since starting with Linux kernel 6.16.x without any issues. Alternatively, you can also choose to manually build and load the latest ixgbe out-of-tree kernel module driver yourself - but the the default ixgbe in-tree kernel module should also work just fine.

Yes, updated to the Intel E610-XT2 Firmware (NVM) Update 1.31 without any issues at all. Probably best to detail your exact steps, step by step with some screenshots of the results, that may help to understand where the issue may be.

Did you just reboot, shutdown or also unplugged the Power cable?
Because when the E610 suddenly stop working, freezes and hangs, it’s possible that it isn’t found anymore until unplugging the Power Cable.

I followed the instructions included with the update files. Again, not my first time using the update tool. (Also did other troubleshooting such as restarting GTR-9, unplugging cable, other ethernet port, restarting network switch, etc..)

Copy update files to FAT32 USB in root.
Boot to UEFI Shell. Change disk to USB.
Run flash.nsh

iperf3 test from my desktop to server has me at 2.34 Gbits/sec (the limit for my network), up from the 0.4Gbits/sec of the WiFi. 😎 (I have no reason to believe I wouldn’t hit 10G if I had the networking hardware for it.)

firstName That suggests an issue with the hardware or the software files on that update disk. By “unplugging cable” do you mean the AC Power cord? If not, then that would be my recommendation, as mentioned by @Nirantali , as that would help to reset the NIC harwdare.

Perhaps that’s the case on Fedora, but not on others. As I mentioned I’m on NixOS Linux and I’ve been using the default in-tree kernel driver ixgbe with the GTR9 Pro’s Intel E610-XT2 NIC starting with Linux kernel 6.16.xand following up with higher versions without any issues at all on any of them. Currently on Linux 6.17.8, all good!

Start the installer from ubuntu with the HWE kernel!

Then it will work. But even with the latest bios and latest firmware update for the intel nics under heavy load it will crash.

Thanks dpwacky for the guide! My server is in the same situation, even with the new kernel the Ethernet disappears. Like in your guide Ethernet disappears when the server is under heavy load: I recently got llama.cpp working and it crashes the NIC EVERY time. This is extremely disappointing for such an expensive product. I’ve recommended other brands to my community as a result of this.

Firmware: Non-Volatile Memory (NVM) Update Package for Intel® Ethernet E610 Series v1.40;
Driver: Intel® Ethernet Adapter E610 Series Complete Driver Pack v30.6;

⚠️ Disclaimer: These updates are provided from Intel and not directly from Beelink. Specifically the NVM Firmware update may not be suitable as it may lack any NVM customisations from the OEM (Beelink, if any at all exist) and in extreme cases it may lead to bricking the NIC device. If you decide to proceed with that update you are proceeding on your own risk. Having said this, specifically for my GTR 9 Pro, so far I never exerienced any issue with that Intel NVM firmware update myself. But it would be good for Beelink to clarify if there is any difference or customisation at all and this should be a concern.
