Hello Bettie,
I have tried this and unfortunately, I get the same result. I have also tried removing the battery, at the same time disconnecting the power cord, then holding down the power button for at least 10 minutes. Didn’t work. Then tried removing battery with power disconnected for 3 days. That didn’t work.
I still get booted to an empty bios setup screen where the PC is locked up. It displays two lines of text, ROM image is not loaded, and on the second line, ROM image update denied. My personal take is that it’s somehow bricked. I have a hard time with that because there seemed to be no issues during the flash process. NO power glitches. The only thing that I did notice was that the PC did not reboot itself after flashing. I had to do that manually once the process completed and the screen was at the FS3:> prompt. Perhaps that alone was an indicator of a problem. If only I had considered that at the time I could have prevented all this hassle, kept the PC powered on and flashed the old bios version or determine what the issue is with the update I was trying to install and go from there. Perhaps my download is corrupted. Whatever the reason, I’m fairly convinced however that this unit is now bricked.
I was hoping there was an in-house utility program or the like allowing a fail-safe re-flashing process. The next best thing will be to flash directly using a CH341a programmer. You guys have a nice little compact board here, but the pins look accessible, and I should be able to clip on to them. If you have any specific tips performing an in circuit direct flash, I’d appreciate the information.
Thanks,
Steven
