- The Quick Hardware Fix
This is often the most effective solution for this specific problem.
Use a USB Extension Cable: Get a short, high-quality USB 3.0 extension cable. Plug the extension into the problematic rear USB 3.0 port, and then plug your ThinkPad Hub into the extension cable.
Why this works: It physically moves the hub and its cable away from the back of the Mini PC, which can be a source of significant electrical noise. It also can create a more stable connection by bypassing any minor physical port issues.
- Windows Power Management Settings
Windows can aggressively turn off USB ports to save power, which causes disconnections.
Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
Expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers section.
Right-click on each device named USB Root Hub (USB 3.0) and select Properties.
Go to the Power Management tab.
Uncheck the box that says “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.”
Click OK.
Repeat for all USB Root Hub (USB 3.0) entries.
Restart your PC.
