Hi June, sadly things are worse now.
I flashed that new BIOS you sent in the PM successfully, and rebooted the machine back into linux which worked as usual. However it didn’t solve my problem with the Mate SE.
So, not having changed anything else (ie same devices all stayed connected), I reset the CMOS. Then, after pushing the power button it doesn’t display anything on the monitor (tested a few monitors, display port and hdmi).
I then took off all but power, monitor, keyboard and mouse. From the powered off state, pressing the power button on the front panel lights up the button and the fan is audible. However there is no further activity, and no power to the USB keyboard or mouse.
At this point pressing the power button, or holding the power button down for a prolonged period will not turn the machine off. There is nothing else I can think to do. The machine is bricked.
