Title (optional):
eGPU disconnect issue – Black screen + GPU fans at full speed (EX Pro Dock + GTI15 + RTX 5080)
Post:
I am experiencing an issue where the GPU connection suddenly drops.
When this happens, the monitor connected to the GPU goes black, and about 1 second later the GPU fans ramp up to full speed.
My setup:
Mini PC: GTI15
eGPU dock: Beelink EX Pro Dock
GPU: RTX 5080
BIOS version: T203
Monitor connected via DisplayPort directly to the RTX 5080
I have already tried the following:
Replaced GPU ↔ PSU power cables
Fully reassembled the entire setup multiple times
Tested PCIe Gen3 / Gen4 / Gen5 settings
BIOS reset to default
Verified that the dock is indeed EX Pro Dock (based on product photos)
Usage scenarios when the issue occurs:
While idle on the desktop
While in BIOS screen (where the GPU should not even be actively used, as far as I know)
While gaming
The timing is completely random:
Sometimes after 10 minutes
Sometimes after 20 minutes
Sometimes after 1–2 hours
Detailed behavior:
System works normally
Suddenly the external monitor turns black
About 1 second later, the RTX 5080 fans spin at full speed
The mini PC itself keeps running normally
When this happens, I connect the monitor to the mini PC’s internal output:
The system is still responsive
A game crash report is shown, indicating a GPU crash
From my perspective, it looks like the GPU connection is being lost, or a critical GPU error occurs.
The products are only about one week old.
I currently live in Europe, and return shipping is not easy, so I would really appreciate any guidance or troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue.
Thank you in advance.
