SER7 7840HS, limited to ~4.7GHz ?

I’ve just installed fresh Kubuntu 25.10, ran Geekbench 6.5 and/or some web browser tests. I can see that CPU runs at max 4.7GHz (for single core tests as well), temps are between ₄₀-65*C (system monitor) during geekbench6.5 test.

final values: 2545 / 9693 (but multicore should be in 12000-13000 range for this CPU, and single core closer to 2800 I believe)

I’ve checked all /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/ … files, scaling_max, etc. all of them say 5137904 - 5.1GHz, scaling governor is performance

BIOS is set to performance (other tab has 65W values)

What gives?? I don’t expect it to run @5.1GHz for one hour, but at least for 10-20 seconds?? When temperature allows it …

Please repeatedly press delete key as soon as you turn on the PC, go to BIOS. Please send us a picture of the Main page, we will check if you need to update the BIOS.

Please update the kernel.

I think problem solved, I did CMOS reset. and it behaves better now. however BIOS is very old I think 6.7.0.0.3
geekbench 5 and 6 results are in line with avg values for this CPU.
(also I’ve changed RAM to dual channel)
