SER8 Chipset Driver Compatibility Notice

Dear Valued Customers, We have received reports that Beelink SER8 mini PCs may experience system freezes, stuttering or random reboots after updating Windows OS or the latest official AMD drivers. Our technical team has confirmed that this issue stems from compatibility conflicts between the newly updated Windows/AMD drivers and the factory-default chipset driver of SER8. Temporary Solution If your device is malfunctioning, please roll back the chipset driver to the original factory version to restore normal operation. To prevent the issue from recurring, please refrain from updating Windows and official AMD drivers temporarily. Option 1: Uninstall problematic drivers and reinstall factory drivers This solution fixes the issue without reinstalling the system. Perform a forced hard shutdown three times in a row: While the Windows boot logo is on screen, press and hold the power button. On the fourth startup, Windows will automatically launch Automatic Repair. Follow the path: Advanced options → Troubleshoot → Advanced options → Startup Settings → Restart. After rebooting, press 4 to enter Safe Mode. In Safe Mode, right-click the Start menu and select Installed Apps. Search for AMD Chipset Software and uninstall it per the on-screen instructions. Open Device Manager and uninstall the graphics driver as well. Restart your device and verify normal boot-up. Right‑click This PC → Device Manager → System devices → Locate AMD GPIO Controller. Right‑click → Update driver → Browse my computer for drivers → Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer → Have Disk → Select the extracted .inf file. ad_max Normally, flashing BIOS will NOT remove your Windows 11 activation. The digital license is linked to your motherboard hardware, so your registration stays intact after BIOS update.

Please repeatedly press delete key as soon as you turn on the PC, go to BIOS. Please send me a picture of the Main page, I will check if you need to update the BIOS.

Similar to jairgza, I am getting the Error 1603 when attempting to install the latest AMD chipset driver. AMD’s suggested troubleshooting using DISM and SFC does not resolve the issue.

kfsva I got similar error when trying to use AMD Install Manager to upgrade latest chipset driver. Then I went to AMD website and downloaded latest chipset driver installer and that worked without error.

I finally got the update working by following Cabodog168 ’s suggestion of going to the AMD website and installing the chipset drivers that way.

Please make sure that the HDMI cable is firmly attached.
And what is your RAM capacity ?

AMD Chipset Drivers Version 8.08.12.551 was just released!

I have manually installed them and both my SER8’s are working great with out any issues! 🙂

I highly recommend downloading the installer from below link and install with the standalone installer instead of using the AMD Install Manager which is known to cause install issues “sometimes”.

A while back I had managed to roll back the driver, it seems to have installed again and am once again crashing. Do I need to roll back driver again first then do bios update or can I do the update now and leave the driver as is?

mlmason75 It cracks me up how, ever since that huge driver fiasco, I keep seeing comments both here on the forum and on reddit asking if it’s safe to install, while the brave souls who update blindly report back on how it went.
