I have a SER6-P and I can’t seem to configure the fan speed from Linux.

I’ve seen these options in the BIOS, but the “Manual” setting with Fan Table Control, doesn’t show what the default “Auto” configuration looks like:

So the questions are:

  • What’s the difference between:

    Fan Control: [Auto]

    and

    Fan Control: [Manual]
    Force PWM Control: [Unforce]
    Fan Table Control: [Auto]
  • When I set “Fan Table Control” to “[Manual]”, I have a list of values at 0. What are the values in this table when I set “Fan Table Control” to “[Auto]”?

Thanks in advance

Or at least, do you have any recommendations on manual settings that would improve cooling?

(I don’t mind the fan running at 100% before reaching a critical temperature, I sometimes run tasks for a few minutes (210 minutes) where I prefer the mini-pc to be cooled as much as possible, even if it means being noisy, rather than overheating).

HI there
Fan auto is the fan adjusts by itself .

manual
Force PWM Control: [Unforce] ( you can set this to the max . this means the fan speed )
Fan Table Control: [Auto] (this means the fan will adjust itself according to the motherboard temperature )

You can also try some software to adjust the fan
1.You can also try Software : SpeedFan  to optimize the fan .

support4 I’m using linux, so speedfan isn’t available, and it seems the linux tools for this doesn’t detect the fan…

I think I’ll do some tests with the manual fan table control… However, I’d like to know what the “default” values are when the fan table control is set to “Auto”, so I can reproduce them and adapt them to my needs with the “Manual” setting…

edit: After some tests, it seems that even the BIOS configuration is ignored… I set “Force PWM Control” to “Force” and the PWM value to 100 doesn’t make the fan being full-speed…

The version is “SER6pP5C8V11” with the build date: 03/12/2024 16:54:11
I already asked by mail to your support, they said I had the latest one…

Anyway, if a version more recent than mine is available, I’m interested in upgrading 🙂 .

      hello there,
your bios is the latest version, you don’t have to update it.
