SEi12 i5-12450H SATA port

Dear Support,
I’ve a SEi12 i5-12450H mini PC with 16GB RAM and 256GB NVMe m2 SSD. The BIOS version is ALDER115. It runs Windows 11 Pro without any issues. I connected a Samsung EVO 860 1TB SSD to a SATA port. The mini PC can detect the Samsung EVO 860, and the Windows 11 shows the Samsung EVO 860 as Drive-D. However, the file write speed was extremely slow (2-3MB per second). I connected another Samsung EVO 860 1TB SSD to the SATA port. Sadly, I got the same result. Then, I connected a Samsung EVO 860 512GB SSD to the SATA port and ran Samsung Magician benchmark. The result is 561MB/528MB sequential read/write, respectively. Does SATA port support 1TB SSD?

Hi there,

It’s possible that the issue is specific to the two 1TB SSDs you initially connected and not a limitation of the SATA port’s support for 1TB drives. For example, if the SSDs have some internal faults or have been previously used in an environment that caused damage, it could result in slow speeds. Another possibility is that there might be a conflict with some software or service running in the background that is interfering with the SATA data transfer.

I connected both Samsung 1TB SSD to the mini PC via USB3 to SATA adapter. and tested both using the AS SSD benchmark. The test result show 433.26MB/s sequential read and 421.41MB/s sequential write speeds.
If the issue is caused by SATA cable or background tasks, the same issue should also occur with the Samsung EVO 860 500GB SSD as well. But, the issue only happens with the Samsung EVO 860 1T SSDs.

Please use Diskgenius to test if Samsung EVO 860 1T SSD has bad sectors in it?
