Hi, After using the fingerprint reader happily for a month, it just stopped working. Windows just asks for my pin without the Windows Hello logo for fingerprint reader. Device manager also doesn’t show Biometric device like it used to. Downloaded the driver Beelink provided but it’s still the same. Got this error instead:- An unknown USB device also appeared in Device Manager. Device Descriptor Request Failed. Please help

Beejay Do you have the same problem ? Please go to device manager and uninstall the finger print driver ,then restart the PC . Restall the Finger prince driver.

There is also an untraceable “Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)” error in Device Manager - couldn’t have anything to do with the Fingerprint reader? In Regedit that Device instance path has LocationInformation as ""Port #0004.Hub #0006 - which one is that? ok so did as instructed: uninstalled fingerprint driver, rebooted, installed. Rebooted again - no fingerprint reader, no entry for Egis in device manager. Now it seems completely broken - what now?

Yeah, reinstalling the system every time a bogus driver bails out? I don’t think so. Can the supplier of the driver software be asked whether they are convinced that the update is working?

Beejay It might be caused by windows update, so you can try to roll back to the orginal window version.

Same exact problem here. I need my Windows to be up to date and not go back to a previous version. In Device Manager, I now get a warning under “Universal Serial Bus controllers” for an item called “Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)”. There are no biometric devices listed anymore. I tried reinstalling from the driver package ETU813_3.6.2.3_Win11v24H2_WBF_WHQL after removing the Unknown USB device from device manager.

support1 FYI, I think I figured out a way to “fix” this. My fingerprint sensor worked out of box, but then it stopped working and I thought it was because I did a Windows update. But whatever I do like reinstalling OS both Microsoft and Bee-link images didn’t fix it. So one time I had to unplug my GTI-14 to install into the dock and the fingerprint sensor works again. Then it broke again when I did a force restart by holding the power button. Then I did the unplug for 30 seconds and it started working again.
Maybe it’s some kind of grounding issue?

Hi,

I had the exact same experience as jacknjill101 today.

I was tweaking the pcie settings and gpu preference to work around the external gpu dock stuttering issues and ran into a situation where I needed to hold the power button to turn the PC off (as monitor had no output).

After starting back up and several restarts I kept having the fingerprint reader issue like jacknjill101.

I turned off the PC and dock completely and unplugged it for a few minutes and after turning everything back on it works fine.

No drivers were updated at any point.
