I have a Beelink Mini S 8GB RAM and 500GB HD (MINISV1-A-8256SDOW64PRO-A). Unfortunately it’s no longer under warranty but I’d really appreciate some guidance on the problem it’s been having: Everything is working perfectly (with Windows10 or Linux) except when I try to reboot or switch it on before it has completely cooled down, which usually takes about 5 minutes. If I try, it lights up the blue power LED, turns the cooling fan but doesn’t show any video. If I don’t switch it off, it stays in this state permanently. And when it’s like this, if I try to switch it off using the power button, it switches off the blue LED, stops the fan and seconds later switches on the LED again and turns the fan, but it’s still on the black screen. If I insist on switching it off using the button, it repeats the behaviour: it restarts and remains on the black screen. Then I have to remove the power supply and wait for it to cool down. Then it restarts normally. What I’ve already done: Changed the thermal paste on the processor Cleaned the RAM contacts Removed the glue residue left by the backup battery that was stuck to the motherboard Checked the voltage of the backup battery (OK) Thoroughly sanitised the motherboard with isopropyl alcohol Checked and reset the BIOS configuration ((JTKT001 ×64 - 04/12/2022) via the CMOS reset button (10sec. without energy). Changed the monitor I’ve tried booting with ethernet, without connecting peripherals (keyboard, mouse) What I’m thinking of doing: ?Reinstall the BIOS ?Reflow the processor ?Check the capacitors (this will be a bit difficult as the board will have cooled down by the time I remove it). But I’d be very grateful if anyone could give me some advice.

If your PC is overheating, please check if the fan spins. You can also turn off the turbo boost. Adjust power settings: Adjust the power settings on your PC to optimize performance and reduce heat generation. Lowering the maximum processor state or using power-saving modes can help.Go to control panel —power option—change to High performance— change plan setting—advanced setting —processor power management— change both 100% to 99% , click save.

Fortunately, it is not overheating. I have been monitoring the CPU’s operating temperature and it is around 60 degrees Celsius. The FAN is working properly. I am using Windows 11 as my operating system, which apparently does not stress the CPU. So it should not be an overheating problem. But as strange as it may seem, after turning off the system, the video does not load while the temperature goes down (that’s what I believe) because I have to wait about 5 to 10 minutes. Then it starts up normally and is able to work for hours and hours without any problems. I can’t understand what is happening. Could there be an overheating sensor in the CPU that is not working properly?

LaBenedetti ①Please test the RAM with Memtest software to see if the RAM works fine. ②Please repeatedly press delete key as soon as your restart the PC, go to BIOS. Go to Boot option, enable fast boot, press F4 to save.

The RAM is working properly. I used memtest and the result is that it is OK. BIOS was already configured with Fast Boot.

As everything suggests that the problem is related to the temperature of the cpu or gpu, I decided to experiment. I improvised by fitting an extra fan blowing air into the unit and sealing the other inlets to force the air through the cpu/gpu vent. As a result, I managed to bring the working temperature, which I’m monitoring via the Core Temp application, down from 60 to around 43 degrees Celsius. But even so, the only change was to shorten the amount of time it takes for it to restart giving video. No restart was possible. It continues to behave in the same way: the fan turns on, the blue LED lights up but the video doesn’t come up. Then you just have to unplug it. But now, with the temperature lower, it’s almost immediately giving video and switching on normally via the button. I only need a few seconds when the unit is unplugged.

But the problem persists. I would appreciate any further suggestions.

Please go to device manager to uninstall the graphic driver and then restart the PC. Check for software conflicts: Uninstall any recently installed software that might be interfering with the system’s startup or video functionality.

I did this and there was no change. I don’t believe it’s a software or driver issue. I also installed some Linux distros to see if it changed the behavior. I installed Lubuntu, Linux Mint, MX Linux and the behavior is the same. Everything points to a hardware (or BIOS?) issue, especially because when the CPU cools down, the boot is normal. My suspicions continue to be BGA solder on the CPU/GPU, capacitors (or some other component) with values altered by the temperature or some temperature sensor (on the CPU?) providing incorrect readings at boot. I’ve been monitoring it during operation and the readings are normal. Is there anyone who’s an expert in hardware who can give their opinion?

Hi Ago I’m surprised. I thought I was the only owner of a Beelink with such a peculiar defect. So as this is a recurring situation, it would be quite plausible for Beelink to pay special attention to us in order to try to solve our problem and, perhaps, improve the hardware of their new products. I’d even suggest sending my unit in (with a replacement, of course) to be checked out by the factory if that’s the case. Could someone from Beelink support comment on this?

I brought an old monitor that I used before and tested it. When I used that monitor, the symptoms related to the s12 booting problem disappeared. After conducting several tests, I confirmed that when the s12 was connected to a monitor with a compatibility issue, the monitor did not simply not display the screen, but the main unit stopped booting. When connected to a monitor that had no issues, when I pressed the power button on the s12 that had completed booting, the device went into standby mode. However, when there was a compatibility issue with the monitor, the device did not boot. When I pressed the power button a second time, the device did not wake up from standby mode, but booted from the beginning. It seems that the s12 clearly has a compatibility issue related to booting with a specific monitor, and this issue seems to need to be resolved through a BIOS update.

I tested it with 4 different HDMI cables at home, but the symptom did not improve at all. About 30 percent boot at once, and the remaining 70 percent do not boot at once and have to boot twice. This is quite annoying. There are users in Korea who have similar symptoms with various products using n100 cpu. They say that if they turn off the monitor completely, turn on the main unit, and then turn on the monitor again, the booting goes normally. It definitely seems that some products using n100 cpu have compatibility issues with specific monitors.

Good morning, Rico. Unfortunately, I haven’t found a solution. I’ve finally resigned myself to it and learned to “live” with the problem as it is. I’m using the mini-PC this way. Since it’s basically connected to a 55″ TV to watch YouTube and browse the internet in the living room, I avoid restarting it. So I turn it on and keep it on until late at night because I know that if I turn it off, I’ll have to wait about 5 minutes for it to cool down and “accept” turning back on.

Not found a led informing problem post. Has it anyone? I removed on purpose ram but behaivour Is the same… Only blue led on, fan cooling, and nothing more.

Had the same symptoms with my EQ5. After a lot of irritation and labour I saw that 1 of the 2 memory modules was not fitting right. After I installed the ram module again the problem was over. Apperently Beelink has some quality issues and they should stop holding on to 1 year warranty. It is to short for a computer anyway and even then this sort of problems should be solved by Beelink without coast. They benefit from this feedback. Come on Beelink you can do better!!

I am having similar issues, sometime I find the unit frozen up with a black screen (no output), and unable to reboot. But then eventually it works again, not sure what might be going on. I replaced the RAM, but I see the same problem. What is the culprit? it is not a temperature issue.

Hi, I’m facing the same problem on my Beelink Mini S N5095.

I was running it headless with Ubuntu 24.04, a few times the device became totally unresponsive, the LAN lights were blinking but it was not on the network anymore, it was unresponsive and only way out was restart. No OS-level log showed any issue, and everything seemed totally normal until the system crashed and there was not a single OS-level log showing a problem, neither any sensor information showed any issues!

This happened intermittently, and then the situation got worse! The system did not power-on with any USB-device being connected, I had to disconnect them and then it could power on! This worked for a few days but the frequency of crashes was increasing!

The, system didn’t even power on with the LAN cable connected, I had to disconnect everything and it could power on only in that case!

That didn’t last long but I also noticed two crashes that pointed to faulty segments of memory, in both cases docker suddenly crashed by issues with a specific segment of the memory!

And then came the final blow, the system crashed and became unresponsive, I tried all of the previous things but nothing happened, symptoms:

After power on, you head the fan running on 100%, on a normal boot, it slows down after a few seconds but now it just stays at 100% and nothing happens
LED next to the power is constant blue
Connecting a HDMI cable doesn’t do anything, no video, not even Beelink logo and no BIOS settings
USB-ports are all powered but LAN port is not working, no blinking, device can’t be found on the network

What I’ve already tried:

Cold restart:
- Disconnected everything, let the device cool down and power on after 15 mins => Didn’t work
CLR-CMOS:
- Disconnected everything, CLR-CMOS for 20 secs => Nothing
CLR-CMOS + Power button reset:
- Disconnected everything,, CLR-CMOS for 20 secs, hold power button for 30 secs => Nothing
Reseating RAM => Nothing
Removing SSD => Nothing
Removing RAM to see if system behaves differently (beep, restart loop, anything) => Nothing
Disconnected CMOS battery, CLR-CMOS, power for 20 secs, let it rest for 10 mins and then power on => Nothing

At this point, there’s nothing left from my side to try! The device seems to be brain dead! The only remaining thing that I can try now is probably flashing the BIOS and seeing if that helps!

I’m attaching the Serial Number of the device here to speed up the process.

There is about an 80% chance that the issue is caused by the RAM module.
This problem usually happens when the RAM installed in the system is counterfeit.
I recommend that when the system boots up, you use the CPU-Z program to check whether the RAM modules have a serial number and whether there is a brand name printed on the front of the RAM chips (not left blank).
There are many counterfeit RAMs on the market that can boot up a system, but they often cause issues like the one you are experiencing.
