This one is a very specific case but one i got the chance to talk about here, i’ve got TWO machines of the same EQR series and model, specifically the EQR5_D4-L-16512SD0W64PRO-HD/XA with the exact same issue at, my suspicion is, a firmware level, when trying to boot ANY operating system except for Memtest86 or some very simple DOS-like, the system restarts or freezes without me being able to hold the power button to turn it off, so i need to remove the power cable to be able to restart it.
Using Linux with specifically “Idle=poll” as an argument on GRUB i am able to use the machine perfectly, CPU and IGPU performances are around what they should present during benchmarks and such, which means something between power states is failing to work properly, maybe you support people can pass this onto the engineers to check for any EC updates? can i use one of my machines to flash an debug BIOS so i can send info without sending them overseas? i am unable to do so because the machines have been tampered with, i got them second hand from a company that used external cables to switch the power on button on the FPC04-40P little board at the front panel, so i don’t think i can do that, can i?
I prefer asking for the possibility of a BIOS fix for this issue since it does not seem like a physical defect at the CPU or EC, since i got two of these models with the same issue and ''workaround", but i am unable to run Windows on them
