SER6 with KVM KCEVE

I recently bought a KVM from KCEVE to connect my two HP notebook and SER6 to share a monitor. All of the computers are attached via HDMI to KVM. From the KVM, it goes via HDMI to monitor via a DVI cable.

The issue I have is that SER6, when boot for the first time, will not show up on the monitor, even if I ensure that the KVM has been switch to the miniPC before boot up. I will need to power cycle the KVM in order for the display to show up. This does not happen to the notebook, regards if the KVM is switch to the notebook before or after booting.

I have changed the HDMI cables, I have changed the KVM ports, all to troubleshoot the issue. But it still points to the SER6 as not being able to detect or know that monitor exist.

After power cycle the KVM, and the display is good, I am able to switch to the other notebooks and back without any problem. It seems the problem only lies in the bootup, failure to display via HDMI into the monitor (my KVM has EDID feature as well).

I should point out that before the KVM, when I connect directly to the monitor, I do have a similar problem - where the display does not show up. As my monitor allows me to switch from DVI port to VGA port, I could cycle through those, and the SER6 will then show up. But now connected via the KVM, doing this via the monitor switch (toggle between DVI port and VGA port) does not work anymore.

My SER6 is SER6 PRO-E-32500EJ0W64PRO-DP. And its Serial Number is 7735H3FE10415.

Here are some solutions:

Please press delete key as soon as you turn on the PC, so that you can go to BIOS. Please send us a picture of the Main page.
We will check if you need to update the BIOS.
Please go to AMD website and download the auto-detect program.It will update some chipsets and video drivers automatically. It will identify and install appropriate drivers for their AMD hardware. The program works by scanning the user’s system to detect the installed AMD hardware components, such as graphics cards or processors. It then compares the detected hardware information with a database of AMD drivers and software versions.
EDID Emulation Fix (If KVM Supports It)
Some KVMs have EDID emulation to trick connected devices into thinking a monitor is always present.

If your KVM has EDID emulation, enable it (check the KVM manual).

If not, you may need an external EDID emulator dongle between the SER6 and the KVM.

Cold Boot vs. Warm Boot Behavior
Some mini PCs have different behavior on cold boot (from power-off) vs. warm boot (restart).

Try restarting the SER6 instead of a full power-off to see if the issue persists.

Test with Different Monitor or Direct HDMI Connection
Try connecting the SER6 directly to the monitor via HDMI (bypassing the KVM) to see if the issue still occurs.

If it works fine, the problem is KVM-related (EDID or handshake issue).

If it still fails, the issue is with the SER6’s HDMI output behavior.

Try a Different HDMI-to-DVI Cable (If Possible)
Some HDMI-to-DVI cables may not carry EDID properly.

Test with a different cable or a direct HDMI-to-HDMI connection if your monitor supports it.

Power Cycling Workaround (Temporary Fix)
Since power-cycling the KVM fixes it, you could use a smart plug to automate power cycling when needed.

Item 2: AMD
I had downloaded AMD auto-detect program and update the drivers as suggested by the AMD program. However, the behavior remains the same.

Item 3: EDID Emulation Fix
The KVM already supports this and there is no switch to toggle on or off. It is always on.

Item 4: Warm Boot
Yes, the Warm Boot helps. But there is not the solution I am hoping for.

Item 5: Different Monitor, Direct Connection
Unfortunately, I don’t have access to a different monitor. My other two notebooks works perfectly and without problem. The direct connection again is not the solution - I bought the KVM is to precisely to be able to switch between computers.

For now, I hope the BIOs upgrade could be an answer. Await your advice if BIOs upgrade is possible on my SER6. Thanks.

① External EDID Emulator: Even if your KVM supports EDID emulation, adding a dedicated EDID dongle between the SER6 and KVM can provide a consistent EDID profile during boot. This tricks the SER6 into detecting a “permanent” monitor.
②Boot Order: Power on the KVM first, wait 5–10 seconds, then boot the SER6. This ensures the KVM is fully active before the PC initializes.

Smart Plug Workaround: Use a smart plug to automate KVM power cycling when starting the SER6 (temporary fix).
③HDMI-to-DVI Cable: Test with a different cable (some may not relay EDID properly). If possible, use a direct HDMI-to-HDMI connection (with a DVI adapter on the monitor end) to rule out cable issues.
④Forced Resolution: Set a static resolution/refresh rate in Windows that matches your monitor’s native settings. This reduces reliance on EDID handshake during boot:

Right-click desktop > Display Settings > Advanced Display.

Set resolution and refresh rate manually.

Reboot to test.
