With the current driver, the crashes now occur more frequently in Firefox with Twitch, and I’ve also had them with the video player VLC, which wasn’t the case before.
I’ve googled the problem a bit, and it seems to be related to the “Multi-Plane Overlay” (MPO) feature. The issue appears to be a bug in Windows 11 version 24H2, as these problems also occur with Nvidia hardware and drivers.
If you google “disable mpo amd,” you’ll find several threads on Reddit and other forums from people who are also having similar problems with their graphics cards.
The various registry hacks for disabling MPO unfortunately don’t work or no longer work; I’ve tried three.
It seems the only solution is to go back to Windows 11 23H2 or wait for the 25H2 update, which will be released later this year, and hope that Microsoft has fixed the bug in that version.
If anyone has any other solutions or workarounds, I’d be of course grateful. Just let me know!
