GTi14 Ultra and EX Pro Dock - eGPU not working

I just got a new GTi14 Ultra and EX Dock. I have a new Nvidid 3090 GPU in the dock, it powers up as expected. The BIOS is version T204, all set to defaults, which includes Primary Display: IGFX and Internal Graphics: Auto.

I connect a HDMI cable to the GTi14 HDMI port and power up the dock and PC and video works, I can see Windows setup come up on the screen. But when I power down the dock and the PC and then connect the HDMI cable to the eGPU HDMI port, power on the dock, then power on the GTi14 I do not get any video output to the screen. I also tried using a DisplayPort cable to the eGPU, same result, no video.

How do I get this working?

Also note that if I boot Ubuntu from USB, open a command line console, and issue the command “lspci” the Nvidia 3090 is shown in the list of devices, so it is being recognized by Ubuntu. Even so when the machine first boots it will not detect that the video cable is connected to the 3090.

I figured out the problem, on this setup both Primary Display and and Internal Graphics must be set to Auto. Now the eGPU works.

However looking in the BIOS at PCI Speed I only see options for 1 through 4, there’s no option for PCIe 5. Did I somehow get sent an old model EX Dock?
