GTR 9 Pro Ethernet Malfunction under load

In order to utilize GTR Pro full potential for AI applications, I’m required to install Ubuntu 24.04 along with AMD ROCm (which is not supported on windows 11). After installing Ubuntu, I noticed a recurring problem with the built in ethernet adapters. Whenever the computer encounters load on the GPU, the ethernet card would crash and the only way to get it to work again is to unplug my machine from power. Please advise as this makes the machine unusable as a server under Linux. It happens on gaming distributions such as Bazzite, as well.

Ok great option for me! What do you need to make the swap? And for sure can you confirm me the replacement device will without the ethernet card issue?

What’s generally the time needed for a replace whaen you receive my current device?

Do you also reimburse TB4 Adapters? Because I had to get a such one to at least get one working 10Gbe Port.
Also don’t forget that we lose 2×10Gbe Ports (needs to be disabled that the System works stable).
Do you also reimburse those?

Also don’t ask me again for SN and Stuff, you already got them.

And a replacement is only an Option if the replacement Unit then 100% works, I don’t want send back and pay costs and then get a Unit with the same issues.

Ohh and if I send back, then for safety reasons without NVMe(s), you can then send me a Unit without NVMe.

I’m sorry but I missed a step, it was a few weeks ago when I originally found the workaround and hadn’t looked at it again since, however I just tested again today.

You must do a hard power cycle after running the system hot, just shutdown, pull the plug for a few seconds. It didn’t work for me on otherwise

Note: I ran the system for 5 minutes after the temp reached 70C, and it fluctuated between 70-73C.

I unplugged the system for a couple of seconds after step 4, but at any point after getting the system toasty should be fine, as I indicated in my previous testing it took quite a while after the machine had been running hot for the NICs to become unstable again from a hard power cycle.

Sorry again for the missed step, I should have tested again before posting.

Anyway that got me back from this to stable, surely it must work for some of you😯

PeterB001 Sorry to hear it didn’t work for you, it’s a real shame as it’s a pretty nice computer when working properly. Hope you get a solid replacement 🙏

Did you unplug (hard power cycle) the system after heating it up? I’m afraid I omitted that important step. See my follow-up post above.

Hard power cycle is required to reset the NIC as it doesn’t actually power down when the PC is off.
The more I read about it, the more all of it seems like a PCIe link training issue to me…
As in, when the PC is cold, the calibrated timings are off just enough to cause issues when the PC suddenly gets very warm under load or experiences sharp current spikes due to GPU being stressed.

If so, this should be fixable by customizing the NIC firmware.

But in fact, after a mail exchange with the support, a return for a swap for a new GTR9 instance device will not solve the issue,
The issue is not fix, include new GTR9 instance device.

Beelink CS-Ian Chan is the issue solved in the new units? That is what I am asking otherwise replacing them is not an option 😉 and I can send over all serial numbers but your support already has them for the replacement fans I did receive yesterday. But I would like it the other way around if you can confirm that in the new units the issue with the ethernet is resolved then I will consider sending them back. But I use them daily with an usb adapter now so it is kind of a hassle if I first need to send them back and wait weeks again.
