Hello, I am having a problem with the following: USB 3.2 port does not work very well, it works fine for very simple peripherals like mice, keyboards, and even USB microphones, but works poorly or not at all for items that actually can take advantage of the higher transfer speeds such as external storage devices. Audio is very quiet after waking from sleep. This happens in both Debian 13 Linux (with KDE) or Windows 11 latest versions as of October 11th, 2025. This happens with both the front and rear audio jacks, with headphones or speakers including at least 2 different speakers and headphone cables. Audio is only quiet AFTER waking from sleep, a reboot fixes the issue consistently every time in every situation described above. To try to see if either of these issues are mitigated, I updated from BIOS V29 to V35. Unfortunately, neither issue is fixed. Now I cannot reduce max system power draw from the 54w ‘balanced’ and 65w ‘performance’ options. I would much prefer to have either a 28w or 35w power option enabled, but I cannot find them anywhere (also used ctrl + F1 to see if it became hidden, and while that did unhide many options, I still cannot find the old smartshift option in the AMD SMU common options menu that was there before. Can someone please assist in helping me find the menu, or alternatively, can I roll back the BIOS update?

Thank you for trying to help. I have tried to install the chipset driver you linked, but had the exact same issue as another person with the exact same product (SER8 8845HS -> https://bbs.bee-link.com/d/5445-ser8-8845-problem-whit-driver-chipset-and-amd-relive--record-and-stream)

Since the driver refused to install anything, I followed the instruction of your reply in that thread, to use the AMD Adrenaline auto detect driver. It turns out, the chipset driver was installed this entire time. And, I still have inconsistent USB 3.2 port behavior. It works fine for simple USB devices like keyboards, mice, USB mic, game controllers, etc., but when anything with USB transfers is connected, it’s very inconsistent and often does not work at all.

Actually, I noticed this behavior is not just the USB 3.2 port, but also the USB 4 ports. They work fine for simple devices, but when there is something connected like an eGPU, it seems very inconsistent or not connecting at all. I can’t seem to pin down when it decides it wants to work.

I also tried your audio driver, and it is still quiet after waking from sleep. Honestly, this is expected because it behaves exactly the same in both Windows and Linux. The same could be said of the USB port. The audio is probably a BIOS issue or hardware issue, the same could be said of the USB 3 and USB 4 bus or whatever it is. USB2 ports are the only USB ports on this system that work reliably, so I use them for now.

I wonder if I am having issues because I updated the BIOS? V35 does not help any of my issues. I’m currently on V29. I wonder if reverting to the BIOS that came with the system will be of any help?

By the way, I believe in the past I also tried CMOS reset using the pin, and the issues are still there. Inconsistent USB 3+, and audio is very quiet after waking from sleep…

Hello,

The power supply is the provided Beelink compact 100w PSU. I use the SER8 at 54w or less at all times, I never once used performance mode (65w).

I can try the audio driver but honestly I think we both know the odds of it working are slim, since the exact same issue occurs in both Linux and Windows and behaves identically. The sound works perfectly until the system goes into sleep, then when it wakes back up, the sound is very quiet. This is fixed with a simple reboot. That, to me, screams BIOS.

Thank you for trying to help anyway, I will deal with the flaws of the hardware or BIOS or whatever it is unfortunately.

I did find a solution to USB4 issues, the port is just very placement sensitive. If I arrange some device to maintain a strong and stable angle for the USB-C cable, it works and I can use eGPUs without any issue. Perhaps it is a similar issue with the USB 3.2 port, but at the very least, I should be able to use USB hubs with the USB4 as a source, and be able to get usb 3.2 speeds with the right hubs.

I can somehow work with this. Again, thank you for your help. I’ll try the audio driver in the next few days and report back what we both know is going to happen anyway. I’ll do it just in case though as you never know!

You mentioned using the provided 100W PSU. While it should be sufficient, inconsistent high-power USB/Thunderbolt device behavior can sometimes be related to voltage stability.

Test with a Higher-Wattage PSU: If you have access to a high-quality 120W or 140W USB-C PD power supply (e.g., from a premium laptop), try it briefly. This can rule out the PSU being borderline under specific high-transfer or eGPU loads.

Check Windows Power Settings for USB: Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options > Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings. Expand USB settings > USB selective suspend setting and set it to Disabled. This prevents Windows from powering down USB hubs to save energy, which can cause instability.
