Beelink SER7 Broken after Windows 11 update

I bought a new Beelink SER7 7840HS from Amazon on November 13 2024. All was great until a Windows update 2 weeks ago. After that windows was in a repair boot/fail loop.

Using your tutorial. I created a win 11 USB boot drive to do a complete re-install (no other repair options worked). I have since booted to the USB drive and attempted to re-install Windows 11 pro multiple times (including a CMOS clear).

Each time the new install fails at 12%.

I need to know what to do next as I am frustrated with this. Please let me know what to do to fix this. Also.
-let me know if I need to update the BIOS and which one to use
-which drivers do I need after the install, it is confusing trying to figure out which ones I should download from your
site.
-I have been checking the “I do not have a windows key” box, but I would be more comfortable if you sent me the
Windows 11 Pro Key.

Thx for sending the files and tutorials. After flashing the BIOS it seemed that it completed but then the last line said
“18 - error: secure flash rom verify fail”. I assume that this means something went wrong and I did not proceed to the next step of flashing the EC. What should I do now?

I ran the bios flash twice and received the same error message. When I went into the bios afterwards, it still showed the same bios version in the picture I sent you yesterday - so no change.

Sorry for all the repeats above, each time I tried to post I received an error message, so I tried multiple times. In the end they all got added. I’m guessing it was a server issue.

Anyway, I was hoping on further instructions from you as the bios update failed - any further help!

Thanks for sending a new bios flash.

I ran the new bios flash per the tutorial, and it appeared to complete successfully without issue.

However, now the computer will only boot to the bios screen, it will no longer boot to the USB or hard drive.

I have tried exiting the bios using the save and exit option and the exit without saving option. I have the boot order set at USB drive 1st and hard drive 2nd, nothing else.

I have turned off the computer holding the power button and then starting again - it goes straight to bios without pressing any keys. I have turned off the computer, cleared the cache and then restarted, same thing happens. I even shut off the computer and unplugged it from the wall for 15 minutes and then turned it back on, straight to bios again. No matter what I do I am stuck in the bios.

I did check the bios version after the flash and the number appears to be the same as before? Attached are 2 pictures. The 1st is of the current Bios main page showing the bios number. The 2nd is the current boot screen showing the boot order -(USB then hard drive).

I have not been able to go to the next step of flashing the EC as I am stuck in the Bios - Help!!

I am still looking for what to do. After latest BIOS flash you sent. The computer always enters the bios on startup without pressing any keys. Also. exiting the bios whether saving or not just brings me back to the bios ignoring all drives/

Ok, So I think I figured out why I could not get out of the Bios. I copied the files you gave me for the EC flash directly to the USB drive, but with the folder structure it did not recognize the drive or it dictated to restart into the bios.

I then pulled the files out of the win folder and the shell folder and moved them out into the root directory. At this point the USB drive is recognized and it updated the bios from version 05 to version 07,

However, when I follow the instructions to flash the EC, it just re-flashes the bios and not the EC. Are you sure you gave me the correct files to flash the EC? Perhaps I have the files on the USB incorrect, can you explicitly show me via image exactly what the USB root directory should look like with the files correctly added to the drive (the tutorial just has example files)?

Please respond, it has been a month now since the windows update broke this PC. I have updated the Bios to Version 7 but can’t figure out how to update the EC. In its current state using a USB disk to reinstall windows11 pro fails at 12%.

This was the 2nd Beelink mini-computer I bought from you. The 1st was a GTI14 with video card docking station which is working fine but I am afraid it may soon have similar issues. I am fast losing confidence in Beelink and your support.

I have 2 3D printers from QIDI (also in China) and have had nothing but good support from them with personal e-mail responses always the next day. Is there someone at Beelink that I can have an e-mail conversation with to help me resolve this?

I am not seeing the benefit of a 1 year warranty if I can’t get any direct support other than posting in a forum. If I can’t get any help soon, I will be posting a negative review in Amazon.

Thanks for the reply and sending the same files and instructions from before. Just for grins I tried again.

I had the same results. At boot it uses the USB drive and it immediately runs a bios update successfully to 07. Then I am at the FS2: prompt. If I type flash and hit tab and then enter, the bios update runs again. I never see the EC screen shown in the tutorial and the EC is still at version 05. If I try to run the flash.cmd file located in the WIN folder, I get a message for incorrect command. Using the tutorial, I cannot figure out how to get the EC to flash.

I assume I must be doing something wrong with copying the files onto the USB drive. the compressed files include 2 folders, WIN and Shell. If I just add these 2 folders to the root directory of the usb drive nothing happens. If I move the contents of the shell folder to the root directory then the bios automatically updates but nothing else. If I just move the WIN folder contents to the root directory nothing happens. If I include the contents of both the SHELL and WIN folders in the root directory of the USB drive the bios auto installs again but nothing else. Again, if I enter flash and tab, the flash.nsh runs again and re-installs the bios only.

I tried another run of installing Win11 Pro and it again failed at 12%.

Attached is an image of the screen after the boot to usb and bios install. The tutorial file is not explicit enough on exactly what the usb file structure should look like after copying the files onto it, as the example picture in the tutorial is not specific to my files/computer.

I notice the replies are scripted, if writing back in English is an issue, then reply back in Chinese and I can translate using Google.

I will wait to contact support for return of the computer, hoping for a response, as I assume it would be sent back to China and it would be a long wait to get it back.

Hi thanks for your input/question. I assume you mean “what happens if you only add the contents of the shell file folder to the root directory on the USB”

So, I did just that and restarted the computer. upon boot the 07 bios updated automatically runs. If I type flash and hit the tab then enter buttons the 07 bios update runs again with no EC flash … same as before.

I do not have the contents of the EFI folder nor the contents of the BOOT folder within the EFI folder in the root directory of the USB drive. Based on the Tutorial, I think this correct as it shows the EFI folder in the root directory.

For some reason there does not seem to be anything that kicks off an EC flash, just the BIOS (or EUFI). The WIN folder has a FLASH.CMD file in it but this will not run and is not recognized as an executable like FLASH.NSH.

Hi Thanks for the new EC tutorial file, The EC files I already had but I did not understand how to install the EC.

The new Tutorial made it clear how to install the EC update within windows 11 (I don’t know why the original tutorial did not make that clear).

However, I still have a problem as the computer will not run windows after the latest update. Any attempt I make to re-install Windows 11 pro from a USB jump drive (using your tutorial), crashes at 12% - every time!

So, if I understand the tutorial right, I can’t update the EC unless I am in windows. Which I can’t do since windows 11 won’t re-install.

Tomorrow I will re-create my windows 11 media creation tool usb drive, just to make sure there was not an issue with the usb drive during the 1st creation.

Please press delete key as soon as you turn on the PC, so that you can go to BIOS. Please send us a picture of the Main page.
We will check if you need to update the BIOS.

Usually, we just need to update the BIOS rather than EC before you reinstall the system.

Hello Peter - I have the exact same problem with my Beelink Ser 6 - will only load Windows 11 to 12% and then crashes the PC. Please let me know if you find a solution. I contacted Beelink tech support today and I am awaiting their reply. I would rather wait and see if they find you a solution instead of trying all the useless steps they have already given you above.

Hello,

Unfortunately, I hadn’t worked on this since my last message, got busy with other stuff. Previously, I was able to install the bios update (to version 07) but still could not get W11 pro to install. So therefore, I am trying to re-create the windows media creation tool in case something went wrong with my 1st download.

Tonight, I finally got around to re- creating the media creation tool on the USB drive. I then attempted to install W11 pro on the Beelink Ser7. I deleted all partitions on the drive and started the install. This time it got to 16% before I got the message "windows 11 installation has failed.

I don’t know if there is another bios update to try? Otherwise, it seems I am at a dead end with no other options to try.

Any other ideas?

2.Please go to device manager and right click the TPM2.0 and enable it.

Please repeatedly press delete key as soon as you turn on the PC, go to BIOS. On Save&Exit page, please click Restore defaults, press enter to confirm, then press F4 to save.
