GTR7 limited to 4GB Vram - cannot be changed!?

Hi,

I do have a GTR7 Ryzen 7 7840HS (Radeon780M) and in the operation systems I only have 4GB VRAM available - even when I set 8GB in the bios: AMD CBS -> NBIO Common Options -> GFX Configuration-> UMA_SPECIFIED -> UMA Frame buffer Size

I am on Bios V39.

On top, in AMD Adrenalin Software I can set the “Memory Optimizer” to productivity or gaming. It is set to productivity and I cannot change it!? It requests a reboot after setting it to gaming and after the restart of the PC it is set to “productivity” again.

Is there any bios version which fixes this issue?
Please help…being stuck with 4GB Vram limits the gaming performance unnecessary and causes reload stutter.

Normally the VRAM capacity can only be set to half of the RAM amount .

My GTR7 has 32GB RAM, so I should be able to set it to 8GB (or even 16) I guess.Right?

If the BIOS can only be set to 8G . it`s 8G for the VRAM .

What do you mean? I did set 8G in Bios. In Windows I still have only 4GB Vram. In Linux too.

AMD drivers have been uninstalled and reinstalled. No change.
And the issue (only 4gb VRAM) is in Linux too, so I guess the problem is not driver related.

Please take off the RAM ,and clean the contact of the ram then put it back again.

Dear Beelink Team,

I took the RAM out and put it back in. All working well. Also 32GB Ram is available in the system. Also before doing that, so not fully sure why I should do that.

But the issue is still the same - limited to 4GB Vram. Please help!

I just made a FULL repair/over-install in Windows 11 via USB stick. The issue is still the same.

Why should I reinstall Windows if the issue is 100% THE SAME in linux!? In this case the windows installation cannot be the root cause, right?

I changed it to 3gb now but in Linux and Windows it is still 4gb vram!?

At the same time I can change other settings in Bios (like default Boot) which are properly changed/stored when altered!?

AGAIN, the issue is identical if I boot into a Linux operating system. How should Windows drivers fix this issue then?

I am sorry ,if you are using Linux system
1.
Kernel Parameters: The Linux kernel might limit available memory due to certain boot parameters. You can check the /proc/cmdline file to see if any memory limiting parameters are present.
2.
Check System Information: You can use the free -h or htop commands to view the actual available memory in the system.

The vram setting in the bios has no effect, no matter if I set 3 or 8GB VRAM. In none of both (independent) operating systems.

Why do you expect independent issues in both operating systems?

thank you very much. Sorry but I do not have the purchase record :-( But of course I can provide the SN and obviously the issue cannot be caused by me.

Can you please still help me please? I just want to use this great mini PC at is meant to be and like it should be. The 4GB vram issue is quite an issue for modern games…even on moderate resolutions which are running GREAT on this tiny yet powerful machine.
