I have already updated the BIOS on my SER8 8845HS (SER8-V035_P8C0M0C15_16), and it is now running with the latest AMD chipset drivers (8.05.04.516) as well as the latest AMD Adrenalin graphics drivers (26.6.1).
However, I was still experiencing random black screen issues. I use three monitors, and occasionally the graphics driver would crash and become disabled by Windows.
After testing different configurations, I discovered that disabling HAGS (Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling) completely resolved the issue. I have now been running the system for five days under normal daily use, including different workloads, gaming sessions, sleep/wake cycles, and extended uptime, without a single black screen, graphics driver crash, or system instability.
There is another issue that I am not sure is related to Windows 11 LTSC, BIOS firmware behavior, or power management implementation.
When Fast Startup or Hibernation is enabled, if I shut down or hibernate the system and then disconnect AC power completely, the behavior after reconnecting power is unusual. The monitors turn off and some peripherals appear to power down, but the system does not seem to transition into a proper low-power sleep or suspend state. The cooling fans continue spinning indefinitely, indicating that parts of the platform remain powered and active.
From a power management perspective, the system appears to enter an incomplete suspend state rather than a fully operational S0 low-power state or a complete shutdown state. This behavior occurs consistently whenever Fast Startup is enabled.
I have noticed that some manufacturers provide BIOS options related to AC power recovery or power-loss behavior (such as “Next Boot After AC Power Loss - Normal Boot / Fast Boot” or similar settings), which may influence how the platform handles these transitions. I am unsure whether the observed behavior is expected for the SER8 platform or whether it is related to a firmware or operating system power management issue.
For the time being, I have disabled Fast Startup, disabled Hibernation, and disabled HAGS. With these settings, while running the latest BIOS, the latest AMD chipset drivers, and the latest AMD Adrenalin graphics drivers, the system has been completely stable and I have not experienced any further issues.
Based on my testing, HAGS appears to be a significant contributing factor to the black screen and graphics driver reset issues affecting the Radeon 780M with several of the most recent AMD driver releases.
