support1 it doesn’t work either. I have a SER5 MAX, too, and that works fine there. I think this is a small bug in SER8 v029 BIOS. Full On Mode works (fan goes maximum), but when you set to PWM Manually or Automatic modes, it does the same. No matter what mode or values I set, it will always go with default settings. This is why I asked you to speak with the firmware guys, because they will know what I am talking about. This is easy to solve as it just seems to be a bug. Same applies to Advanced > OEM Features Management > Usb Power Controller. No matter what I set, it will always be “All ON”. I think this is also a small bug, and these values are ignored. This is a good PC, but these small bugs are annoying, and very easy to be solved by Beelink.

I tried it out, it can even stop the fan from spinning, so it is just possible to implement. There was another thread in which users are asking for this function. Why don’t you implement it in BIOS if it is a requested feature?

Hello all, I would like to briefly summarize which changes did NOT help to adjust the fan volume or fan management speed:
different Bios updates –> Vers.29xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
PWM Bios settings automatic, manual… tried all settings once Result >> fan is constantly running!
Bios reset to default setting. Result >> fan is constantly running!
PWM to automatic Result >> fan is constantly running!
Tried FanControl (Windows software) as a workaround. Unfortunately I have to say that when installing the third-party software
all alarm bells >> Windows Defender, Avast etc. block the software from running! You then have to enter exceptions in the virus scanner to get FanControl to work. My conclusion here is that Fan Control should not be used permanently.
At this point I would also like to add that it is strange for the manufacturer to expect the end customer to use such a solution (workaround). I think we all don’t need a DIY solution, but rather a bios update that works! Hope it comes soon…….

Maybe this applies to the W11 24H2 update? I read that on 23H2 this was not the case.

After you change the fan speed setting in the BIOS, please press F4 to save and exit .
Wait until you go into the system, turn off the PC and unplug the power supply, then you can check if it works.

carlosmeldano Hi there, In a computer system, the fan is designed to maintain the temperature of components such as the CPU and GPU within a safe operating range. The BIOS setting of a temperature limit for fan operation is a threshold value that, in theory, should trigger the fan to turn on or off.
However, in a real - world scenario, there are many factors that can affect the actual operation of the fan. The temperature sensors used to measure the temperature may have a certain margin of error. For example, the accuracy of the sensor may be ± a few degrees Celsius. So, even if the measured temperature is 28°C and the set - off limit is 30°C, the fan may still run due to other factors. Components like the CPU and GPU can retain heat even after the workload has decreased and the measured temperature has dropped. This is known as heat soak. The fan may continue to run to dissipate this residual heat more effectively.
For example, a CPU that has been under heavy load for an extended period may have heated up the surrounding components such as the heat sink and the motherboard. Even when the CPU’s core temperature drops below the set - off limit, the fan may still operate to cool down these other components and prevent the CPU from quickly heating up again due to the stored heat in the nearby materials.

You should also be aware of the signs of overheating, such as system instability, crashes, or sudden performance drops. It’s generally a good idea to test the fan - disabling settings in a controlled environment and for short periods to see how the system responds. And always keep in mind that the R & D team’s warnings about potential harm to the CPU through BIOS - level fan control are based on their knowledge of the system’s hardware and its expected behavior.

Reduce the value of SMF Start PWM or set it to 0 if you want the fan to rotate less or switch off.
The value defines the minimum PWM rate that can be set by the automatic system.
Unfortunately, this is not explained and is not communicated.

In your picture, the SMF Start PWM is at 80 (value range 0-255), so the automatic system will never regulate below PWM 80 (approx. 1300 rpm).

Based on my current knowledge and having worked through all the suggestions made here in the forum, including BIOS updates, settings back and forth and back again and reset etc…, third-party software (DIY), I have not been able to get the PWM function to work in the UEFI BIOS. In my opinion, the problem lies in the communication between the sensors on the motherboard and the UEFI BIOS and the PWM fans.
Perhaps PWM is not possible on the fans or another error on the MB is preventing the UEFI BIOS from working with the PWM settings!

Dear technical support, I don’t want to replace the hardware myself now, starting with changing the fans….

What the support team has suggested so far definitely doesn’t help, but unfortunately they lack the self-awareness and willingness to escalate the issue to the next level. Surely a manufacturer should be able to provide competent help?

I can add my experience here as I am apparently not authorized to start a new discussion. However, my beelink is the SER8 8745HS, which should be almost identical to the 8845HS.

I have noticed two things about the BIOS:

the CPU fan runs continuously, even when I put Windows 11 into sleep mode. I haven’t changed anything in the BIOS yet. Everything is in the default setting.
the TDP setting “Performance” in the BIOS has no effect. Thermal Design Power always remains at 54W (instead of 65W with “Performance”)

I use HWinfo to read the technical specs and settings in Windows.

Is there perhaps already or soon a new BIOS update? At least for 8745HS?

support1 thank you for the explanation but I know how a cooling system works. but with full respect, no one implements a function with “certain margin of error” and so on. this is not specification. a program is deterministic and if you specify to stop the fan below 30C, and you also specify which sensors you check for that, you can disable the fan. the remaining heat and others is just a tale for the masses. and please, if I assume about you, dear support that you have the technical knowledge, why do you assume that I don’t know what I am talking about?

carlosmeldano Hi Carlo, our R&D suggest not to turn off the fan even though it reaches the value you set. So we do not make it work in the BIOS in order to protect the CPU.
