The difference in power consumption values between AIDA64 testing and actual game usage is normal, here are the reasons :
â‘ Differences in Load Conditions
AIDA64: AIDA64 tests the hardware under relatively stable and specific load conditions. For example, when performing a CPU stress test, it will apply a continuous and relatively uniform load to the CPU, enabling the CPU to reach its maximum power consumption under this specific test scenario, thus potentially reaching the maximum TDP of 28W.
Games: The load on hardware in games is complex and changeable. Different games have different requirements and utilization rates for the CPU, GPU, and other components. For instance, in some lightweight games, the hardware load is low, and the power consumption of the CPU and GPU will not reach their maximum values. Even in the same game, power consumption will vary greatly in different scenes. For example, in a simple scene with few characters and objects, the hardware power consumption is relatively low, while in a complex scene with a large number of special effects and characters, the power consumption may increase, but it may not necessarily reach the maximum TDP.

AIDA64: During the AIDA64 test, if the hardware cooling system can effectively dissipate heat and the hardware does not reach the temperature or power limit threshold, the hardware will operate at a relatively high power and frequency, approaching or reaching the maximum TDP.
Games: In the process of playing games, the hardware will be affected by the computer’s power management and thermal throttling mechanisms. When the temperature of the CPU or GPU rises to a certain level, in order to protect the hardware from being damaged due to overheating, the system will automatically reduce the power consumption and operating frequency of the hardware through thermal throttling, resulting in a lower power consumption than the maximum TDP. It does not include the power consumption of peripheral devices such as case fans and hard drives, and the power consumption values of different components are calculated based on sensor data, which may have some errors compared with the actual total power consumption.
Games: In the game environment, the actual power consumption of the entire system also includes the power consumption of various peripheral devices. If the client measures the power consumption of the entire system using other tools, the measured value will be different from the power consumption value of the main components displayed by AIDA64.
