Hi all, After updating the BIOS of my Beelink SER8 Mini PC to version v29, I noticed that my audio devices no longer work when connected to the headphone jack. The audio card is detected, and I can see the “Speakers” or “Line-out” options available, but no sound is coming through. Strangely, when I boot into Windows, everything works fine if I install the appropriate drivers. From what I understand, Linux generally has good compatibility with AMD hardware, so I’m not sure if this is a BIOS or driver issue. Here’s what I’ve already tried: Disabled Secure Boot in BIOS. Verified that the audio card is enabled in the BIOS. Reinstalled the audio drivers on Linux, but the issue persists. Since everything was working fine before the BIOS update, I’m wondering if this could be a regression or a known issue with v29. Can I expect this to be addressed in future BIOS releases? Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

And Please try some solutions here : Check if Linux recognizes the audio device: Use the following commands to check if the system correctly recognizes the audio device: aplay -l lspci | grep -i audio Update ALSA drivers: Run the following command in the terminal to update or reinstall ALSA drivers: sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install –reinstall alsa-base alsa-utils Update PulseAudio: Try updating or reinstalling PulseAudio by running the following command: sudo apt-get install –reinstall pulseaudio

I received my SER8 this week, and the BIOS info is: HPT.8xxx.SER8.V029.P8C0M0C15.07.Link Audio output is extremely low (quiet), after a fresh Arch Linux install, as if it is 10% volume (even if I have it at 100%, or even 150%). Bluetooth speaker works fine, so audio system is working. Will there be a new BIOS to rectify this? I have even tried realtek-firmware, but no change, and have tried both audio jacks, and different speaker/headphones. Thank you.

Mockimok Updating doesn’t work - I’m running latest Arch with a BeeLink SER8 8745, and having followed their instructions, there is no change. The only way around it is to use a USB-to-audio-jack converter, which is at least a cheap alternative until either BeeLink fix their BIOS, or Linux updates its drivers. Unfortunatley, it doesn’t seem that BeeLink are actually trying out their instructions before advising customers to follow them. Btw, I’m using Pipewire, so it isn’t the audio system that makes any difference either.

DavidJo It’s odd my original reply to this thread (back at the end of Nov) was never approved. I contacted Beelink support directly, and they advised to reset the BIOS, even installing Windows (and we know the result of this already) and downloading drivers from kernel.org! I do not personally know if Windows suffers from t his issue, but the original poster indicates it does (“when I boot into Windows, everything works fine if I install the appropriate drivers”), but is overcome by a new driver. My actual issue is not that it doesn’t work at all, but the sound level is extremely low (as if the volume was 10%). This has been noted by other people as well.

Please try some solutions here : Adjust ALSA Volume On Arch Linux, you can still use alsamixer to adjust the ALSA volume: Open the terminal and enter the following command: bash alsamixer Use the left and right arrow keys to select different volume control items (such as Master, PCM, etc.), and use the up and down arrow keys to adjust the volume. Make sure no volume item is muted (muted items will show as “MM”). If an item is muted, press the M key to unmute it. After adjusting, press Esc to exit alsamixer. Check PulseAudio Configuration If you are using PulseAudio, you can check and adjust its settings. Open the terminal and restart PulseAudio: bash pulseaudio -k pulseaudio –start Install and use pavucontrol (PulseAudio Volume Control) to adjust the volume and device settings: bash sudo pacman -S pavucontrol After installation, run pavucontrol and make sure the volume settings are correct and not set too low. Install and Update Audio Drivers On Arch Linux, you can install or update the audio drivers using the following commands: Install ALSA drivers: bash sudo pacman -S alsa-utils alsa-lib Install PulseAudio (if it’s not already installed): bash sudo pacman -S pulseaudio If you’re using Intel or Realtek audio chips, ALSA and PulseAudio should generally support them. DavidJo I’m also running Arch. I’ve had this exact same issue and have spent several hours on it. I’ve come to the conclusion that it won’t get fixed until they release a new firmware version in the repos or beelink puts out a bios fix. Pretty sad that a audio jack won’t work at this day and age. no matter how high I turn my volume up I only get about 6% volume. Right now I’m using a bluetooth speaker so I at least have sound. I haven’t tried the DP port audio connection yet so who knows if that even works.

alevfx Can you clarify whether that you have “no sound” or if you really have “no sound issues” (i.e. audio working out of the audio jack)? I too am running Arch with pipewire, but the issue has been reported with other distros as well. Thank you.

I don’t have any issues at the moment, but I also realize that my sound is routed through the monitor (which works both with HDMI and USB-C) out to speakers; tonight, I’ll try the audio jack. That was my first setup, and iirc I had no issue, I only switched it to the monitor because I have two systems connected to it.

DavidJo I just plugged in headphones to the front jack and once switching the audio source with wpctl set-default XX ( chech your source id with wptctl status) it worked perfectly with no volume issues.

alevfx That’s very interesting, but the only way I can get anything near good enough volume is to crank it well past 100% volume. Then the audio quality is bad as the audio gets clipped. This is using speakers, not headphones.
@support1 I just did the following test: background noise 27db. Using 50% output volume, speaker full-on. Via USB-C (where it works): 200Hz tone 58db, 1Khz tone 74db. Via front audio jack with same parameters, 200Hz tone 30db, 1KHz tone 52db. Via rear audio jack: nothing audible at all.
We have had people mentioning Arch Linux, Mint and now Void, so it is a generic Linux issue with this BIOS (although my kernel is 6.12.10-arch1-1, pipewire 1:1.2.7-1). As the USB-C dongle method demonstrates, the Linux sound system is working. It’s just the audio jack ports are not working, especially the rear one. Looking forward to an update from Beelink!

This has been identified as a BIOS issue. Customers are being made aware. We need serious feedback on if and when to expect a fix.

support1 I’m on Void Linux since linux kernel version 6.6, currently on 6.12.11. (always had very low sound volume on linux. no problem on windows)
